The Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday marked the end of our challenge events season, so it’s time to say a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of our fundraisers who have worked so hard to raise money for St George’s Hospital Charity this year.

We started the year off in August with the London Landmarks Half Marathon marking our first event since the start of the pandemic. Our very own Community Fundraising Officer, Chloe Roberts, took part with friends Jamie and Jake.

Chloe and her team were joined by nine other #TeamGeorges runners in the race which takes runners past iconic London landmarks including the London Eye and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Our long-awaited skydive followed with two fundraisers jumping 13,000 feet out of a plane to raise money for St George’s, including the inspirational Amanda Arnold who turned 70 the day after the event!

September started off with the London Marathon Walk with 11 #TeamGeorges fundraisers taking part, including a team from St George’s Surgery Department who took on the half marathon distance.

The iconic London to Brighton Cycle was the biggest event we’ve had to date with over 60 Team George’s cyclists taking part in the 55-mile cycle, which includes a mile long climb up Ditchling Beacon.

This year’s London Marathon saw eight #TeamGeorges fundraisers take part in the world famous race, in total our incredible runners raised over £35,000 for St George’s, and our on-the-day volunteer team managed to spot all eight runners on the route!

Our 2021 challenge events came to an end last Sunday with the Royal Parks Half Marathon with over 18 people taking part for #TeamGeorges.

With many events over the past year or so cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic it was great to get out there and support all of our amazing fundraisers.

Let’s not forget all of our other incredible fundraisers who have raised money in various ways including pub quizzes, DJ nights, rowing, running events, and everyone who took part in our 300,000 steps in September challenge.

If you would like to join #TeamGeorges for next year’s challenge events applications are now OPEN for 2022.
